SSHSA National Awards

Each year as part of the SSHSA National Conference, recognition is given to people, projects, and ships that have distinguished themselves over time. This year, as part of our 75th Anniversary Celebration in September, special awards will be presented, including,  The C. Bradford Mitchell Award for an individual, institution or agency recognizes a single achievement such as an important book or the founding of an important institution contributing to the SSHSA's aims.  The Samuel Ward Stanton Award for Lifetime Achievement  is intended to recognize the accumulated value of on-going work in our areas of concern.  The H. Graham Wood Award for Distinguished Service to SSHSA recognizes an individual for long-time dedication and service to SSHSA.  The Ship of the Year Award, as its name implies, is awarded only to vessels. The boat or ship must have had or be making a major contribution to the SSHSA's mission, goals, and purposes. Multiple categories are being considered and nominees from steam launches, diesel excursion boats/ferries, yachts, cruise ships, and ocean liners, as well as museum ships and those adaptively used may be nominated.
